Living your Perfect Day?
Maybe it’s just me, but when I am on vacation, I am up early and trying to squeeze every minute out of the day. But, get me home… I sleep in and lazily watch nothing on tv. Today was no exception to this pattern. I slept in and then watched mind numbing shows on tv. I had really good intentions to go for a walk, but it was raining and … well… it was really cold.
Yep, cold. For God’s sake it’s May already and we had a freeze warning overnight. Seriously? A freeze warning? Doesn’t the weatherman know I have plants outside? Maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t, but I think the bottom line is he doesn’t care. How in the world am I supposed to get in a walk in this weather?
It all comes back to …
While in Key West, we walk… a lot. I am probably the only person you know that can loose weight while on vacation. But, I am out from behind a work desk and truly enjoy the outdoors. We walk everywhere and it never really seems too far to go. Well, maybe after a few adult beverages, a stroll down Duval can get a little long. Anyway, I digress. The point is we are active while in Key West. But, at home, we can be down right lazy.
An hour at the gym doesn’t make up for the 8 hours sitting behind the desk at work. But, today, I am going to go outside. Cold weather or not! After it stopped hailing and then spitting snow, the sun decided to just peak out from behind the clouds. I used this as an opportunity to make my escape from the house.
As I said, it all comes back to … routine. Yep, that nasty word … routine. But, in some respect it can be a good thing.
Routine… the spice of life
While out on my walk, I listened to a podcast. On that podcast were words of wisdom. Imagine your perfect day and then do whatever it takes to make every day going forward … perfect.
My perfect day? Up early, seeing the sun rise in Key West, followed by a brisk walk through the empty morning streets. Then coffee and a light breakfast on the patio. The rest of day spent touring the island and providing you with the best places to eat, drink and really cool stuff to do. Of course, sunset would certainly be a must with a possible adult beverage in hand.
So, if I am not in Key West how in the world do I live my perfect day… every day? Well, first, get up off the couch and move. Enjoy the day and go outside. So, I donned my winter apparel and went out for my walk. Gloves, three layers of shirts and my cold weather, long pants.
After a few minutes it wasn’t really that bad. I went for my walk, listed to a great podcast and promised myself that soon…very soon…. I would be back in Key West living the perfect day… every day.
What does your perfect day look like? What are you doing to make it happen?
