Do you VRBO?
Well, I have to say it is much trepidation I put out this post. Our little secret for lodging in Key West is VRBO – Vacation Rentals By Owner (this is our affiliate link and we will earn a commission should you use our link). We have found the best deals on this site. Here is the deal. The site, Vacation Rentals By Owner (VRBO), allows people to post their places for rent – complete with pictures and reviews. This site, for us, is better than Air B&B – not that I have ever used AirBB, but the whole concept of that site seems weird. Anyway, this allows those Key Westers that don’t live full time in the area but have really great spaces to rent, let you know about them. Or, if they engage a rental company, this site consolidates all those places into a one-stop-shop for places to rent.
We have had the best experience with this site. We put in our days we will be in town, price range per night, and viola, we get to see all of our choices. We can locate them on the interactive map and see pictures. Also, you can read all of the reviews and contact the owner by email and ask specific questions. So very cool. This works very well for us because we don’t go down for a weekend, our stays are extended and we then have access to a full kitchen (instead of a kitchenette) and a washer and dryer. Keeps our luggage costs way, way down.
The last time we rented through VRBO – we stayed at Villa Fleur, in the Truman Annex. The owner, Joseph Seifert, was just awesome. We had a late flight out and he was very accommodating for a later check-out. The place matched perfectly the pictures and, quite honestly, we couldn’t say enough on how great it was.
We know several people who not only use the site for Key West but for other beach bum road trips. So, next time, check out VRBO.com. You may find the perfect place to sleep while in Key West or whatever beach you may be visiting.
