One of the fun things of mixing cocktails is you can change a recipe to meet your personal tastebuds or current moods. With Margaritas, when I order the lime margarita, I find the lime taste or the margarita mix maybe too strong and cause a burning sensation for me. So with this recipe I cut the lime portion in half. Many recipes call for a orange liquor addition. Looking around my bar I found Grand Marnier orange liquor and decide to use it for this drink. Overall, I found the Grand Marnier added a nice taste and made for a smooth drink.
Ingredients to use:
1 oz of Gold Tequila
1/2 oz Silver Tequila
1/2 oz Triple Sec
1/4 oz of fresh Lime squeezed juice
1/2 oz of Simple Sugar
1 oz Grand Marnier
Lets mix this drink:
1. Simple Sugar. Easy to make. Add equal portions of sugar and water in a sauce pan and heat to dissolve the sugar. Let stand to cool. You may heat in a microwave as well.
2. This drink is on the rocks. In your cocktail shaker fill it 3/4 full with ice. Add the tequilas, Triple Sec, lime juice, Simple Sugar, Grand Marnier. Close the lid and shake for 30 seconds.
3. Use a chilled old fashion or short glass. Add ice to the glass. Strain and pour you drink from the shaker.
4. Add garnish. I used a slice of fresh lime. Garnish adds to your presentation of the drink as the bar tender. You can bring out additional flavoring to the drink with a fresh garnish.
Enjoy your cocktail.
